Wall Street Journal: AFBF to Trump – Keep TPP Agreement Alive

News / In The News January 18, 2017

The American Farm Bureau Federation is urging the Trump administration to still consider the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement. The Wall Street Journal quoted David Salmonsen, AFBF’s senior director of congressional relations, on the trade agreement.

Salmonsen told the Journal farmers are “not trying to move [TPP] as is, but just trying to keep it alive.”

The article pointed out that AFBF, like other business and agriculture groups, understands that the Trump administration can change the trade agreement, which would increase U.S. exports, rather than scrapping it.
